Fruit Bats Fairfax Concert reviews
Bonamassa rocked my world!!!
Fruit Bats is the REAL DEAL, not many performers are as FANTASTIC in person as they are in a recording studio. He played for 2.5 hours without a break, what a guitar virtuoso! Joe has become a SHOWMAN, doing solo numbers so that his band members could catch little breaks. He knows how to reach the crowd and get them pumped UP.
He did a full range of styles, from frenetic-tempo ROCK AND ROLL to mournful and soulful (Sloe Gin) through hauntingly beautiful (Django) to purely acoustic (Woke Up Dreaming). He played favorites/oldies, and also performed Dust Bowl, from his upcoming CD - prior to its release!
Some other friends of ours also attended; we took our son & future DIL. All of us drove for well more than an hour to get to the Adler in Davenport. It was a late night and I had to work early the next day, but I would NOT have missed this performance for anything.
We will all be watching for another opportunity to see Fruit Bats perform LIVE at any venue within driving distance. Thx!
